This circular walk is a great opportunity to explore the Bleasdale Estate.
Our tour includes Bleasdale Tower, St Eadmers chapel rebuilt nearly 200 years ago and a view of the wonderful ancient packhorse bridge. It’s also an opportunity to wander ancient routes on a landscape used by our iron age ancestors who built a timber monument 3700 years ago, the Bleasdale Circle.
Beyond these human interventions, the landscape is a huge natural amphitheatre formed by the steep sides of Parlick and Fair Snape Fell, it is an atmospheric place, almost intimate yet dominated by the surrounding fells.
It is easy to imagine why sapiens lived in this place.
The walk can easily be shortened by walking from the chapel directly to Holme House using the ‘right of way’ and Concessionary Path.
